The Virginia Department of Rail & Public Transportation [DRPT] is developing a multimodal Alternatives Analysis for an approximately 14-mile segment of the Route 1 in Fairfax and Prince William counties....The Alternatives Analysis continues from a transit study begun in 2011 that was directed by General Assembly Senate Joint Resolution (SJR292) which instructed DRPT to review and evaluate all previous studies and determine feasibility of transit improvements in a 27-mile long segment of the Route 1 corridor.

The 2013 Watershed Friendly Garden Tour will be held Sunday, June 9 from 1-5 p.m., featuring rain gardens, porous pavers, native plant and edible landscaping, rain barrels, backyard wildlife habitat, composting, solar panels, geothermal and more. Local residents open their gardens and share their experiences landscaping with our water resources in mind.

Three town halls have been scheduled to facilitate a collaborative process with public and private organizations, local experts, coalitions, the Prince William Health District (formerly the Health Department) to develop a Community Health Improvement Plan that will shape our strategies for creating a healthier place to live, learn, work, and play.

Qualified residents may vote in-person at the Fairfax County Government Center until June 8:

  • Weekdays: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Extended Thursday hours: until 7 p.m.
  • Saturdays, June 1 and 8: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Note – Celebrate Fairfax! will also be taking place on June 8, so voters may experience traffic congestion or delays.)

Or, qualified residents can apply to vote absentee by mail until June 4:
